What was built?

The project at Expel involved creating a public Terraform module to simplify and streamline the integration of our customers' AWS environments with our managed security services.

The open-source module is now available on GitHub.

What was my role?

This project was a collaborative effort, where I contributed significantly to design, code development, testing, and documentation of the Terraform module.

Working in close collaboration with the rest of the team, our goal was to create a solution that was both efficient and user-friendly.

What were the challenges?

One of the main challenges was ensuring our module was adaptable enough to handle a variety of customer environments while still being easy to use.

By leveraging key features in Terraform, such as modules, variable interpolation, and resource dependencies, we were able to create a solution that was both flexible and straightforward.

What was the impact?

The Terraform module we developed has been instrumental in the successful integration of multiple customer environments into our managed security service platform.

It has significantly simplified the integration process, saving time and effort for both our team and our customers.

What lessons were learned?

This project underscored the importance of clear, well-documented code, especially when dealing with open-source projects.

I also gained a deeper understanding of AWS CloudTrail and its role in securing AWS environments.
